Facebook Privacy Makes The Cover of Time Magazine

Time Magazine’s May 31 issue will hit newsstands with a cover and feature story dedicated to the “scary” side of Facebook.
The cover art pays homage to the Facebook generation with a mosaic of 1,295 Facebook profile photos, accompanied by a blurb from the feature article: “Facebook …and how it’s redefining privacy. With nearly 500 million users, Facebook is connecting us in new (and scary) ways.” More >

Microsoft Office 2010 takes aim at Google Docs

Microsoft is preparing to launch its latest weapon in its ongoing battle with Google.
The software giant will launch its flagship product Office 2010 to businesses on 12 May.
The latest version of the software has a free online component – called Office Web Apps.
Analysts believe the web offering is a response to Google, which has been encroaching on Microsoft’s core business with its free online tools.
Crucially, Microsoft will also offer its online office suite to all users of one of the world’s most popular social networking sites, Facebook. More >

Facebook’s Open Graph Personalizes the Web

Facebook has created a platform that allows sites and apps to share information about users in order to tailor offers, features and services to each one’s interests and tastes — even if that individual has never visited the site before.
When you’re signed on to Facebook, participating websites like CNN.com will display information, goods and services tailored specifically to your interests — without requiring you to sign in at that website or provide it with any information.
Speaking at the F8 Developer Conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and former FriendFeed CEO Bret Taylor, who is now Facebook’s director of product, named three new features that will make this possible and easy to implement. More >
